MY GREATEST JOURNEY:
WHEN DID I KNOW I WAS ADOPTED?
I've been working hard on the upcoming episodes of my new docuseries chronicling my journey to find my birth family. I'm planning to drop the first episodes later this spring right here on my website, and social channels, the details of which I will share soon.
My goal has always been to produce a compelling documentary film about my journey to find my birth family, but I also felt it could be beneficial to tell my story through a series of episodic shorts as well which I hope will help people better understand my story. It's a look into a huge part of my life that I've never shared up until now.
I've had such a hard time being vulnerable and allowing people into my life and perhaps one of the greatest lessons I've learned on this journey is that vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, it can be our greatest strength. And as research professor and author Brené Brown said: "Vulnerability is not about winning or losing, it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control over the outcome."
So this is me being vulnerable and letting others in. And by doing this project, I hope it will give people a better understanding of who I am and some of the emotional challenges, hardships and questions adoptees often face throughout their lives. By sharing my story, I hope it will help others who are on similar journeys find the courage and willingness to share theirs...
MY GREATEST JOURNEY:
THE DESIRE TO KNOW MY BIRTH MOTHER
The desire to find and know the woman who gave birth to me has always been my motivation on this journey. At the same time, I know I already have a loving mom and dad and family here in the United States. I'm not seeking to ever replace that love. I'm trying to fill in the gaps of my past that has invoked much curiosity and so many questions as well as frustration and sadness...
